A Berbice River resident who is said to be an alcoholic is now dead following a cutlass fight on Saturday at his home.
Curtis Harris 58, a cattle farmer of Gate Roy, Berbice River, was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Harris had lived with his son at Gate Roy. He separated from his wife over five years ago, and would allegedly misbehave whenever he was under the influence.
It is alleged that on Saturday, Harris reportedly came home drunk and began to berate a carpenter who was renovating his home.
A fight then ensued, during which Harris was allegedly chopped on the right arm. He collapsed and was transported by his son via boat to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where he died before receiving medical attention.
Police later visited the scene and recovered the cutlass but are still to locate the suspect.
