Dwayne Morgan, 38, a businessman of 20 Plantain Walk, Blairmont, West Bank Berbice, has been committed to stand trial in the next session of the Berbice High Court on a charge of attempted murder.
Morgan, who sells and delivers feeds and baby chicks, will have to face a judge and jury for attempting to kill businessman Randholl Bissondat, 39, of Bath, West Coast Berbice.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at Bath, West Coast Berbice.
The verdict was read out on Friday at the conclusion of a preliminary inquiry which was conducted by Magistrate Rhondell Weever at the Blairmont Magistrate’s court which proved that a Prima Facie case has been made out against him.
The case for the prosecution as presented by Prosecutor Corporal Racquel Mars was that on the day in question the two men who are both businessmen were driving separate trucks around 20:14 h in the Bath area.
They both tried to turn into a street coming from different directions. However the street had a heap of sand thus making it impossible for the two trucks to pass at the same time. There was a near collision as both men tried to force their way through.
An altercation subsequently ensued and Bissondat allegedly received several chops and other injuries about his body.
He was subsequently hospitalized.
Morgan was later arrested and charged.
Bissondat was also charged with assault and fined.
