Fernandes ton hand GCC massive victory, Wins for DCC, Police, Everest

Elon Fernandes stroked a fine century as host Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) defeated Ace Warriors by 287 runs when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ New Building Society second division 40-over tournament continued yesterday.
The left-handed Fernandes added 173 for the second wicket with Manny Forde after the home team lost opener Martin Pestano Belle for 14. Fernandes struck thirteen fours and one six before he was run out for 102 as GCC rattled up 406-7 off their allotted overs, after they decided to bat. Forde hit eleven fours in scoring 74, while Ronaldo Ali Mohamed slammed 83 (8×4) and Devon Lord 43 (5×4). Nikita Lawson grabbed 3-49 and Quincy Gordon 2-92.
Ace Warriors were sent packing for 109 in 15 overs in reply. Yekini Favourite offered some resistance with 39 (6×4) while Roger Aaron and Gordon made 16 and 15 respectively. Mohamed returned to take 3-14 and Joshua Wade 2-43.
At Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), the host thumped Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by seven wickets. GDF never recovered after losing a few early wickets and were bowled out for 110 in 27 overs. Francis Mendonca struck 35 (5×4,1×6) while Randy Lindore made 18 and Damien Ross 14. Off-spinner Lynden Lyght and left arm spinner Ashmead Nedd were the main destroyers; Lyght bowled with variation to finish with 4-12 including a hat-trick while Nedd had 4-33.
Raymond Perez and Sherfene Rutherford put DCC on course with an opening stand of 56 before Perez was bowled by Lindore for 24. Lindore then accounted for Tevin Imlach (00), but Rutherford and Andrew Gibson steadied the chase with a third wicket stand of 40. Rutherford hit five fours before he went for 28, while Gibson remained unbeaten on 26 (4×4,1×6). Lindore took 2-26.
At GNIC SC, Police trounced Third Class by 228 runs. Police posted 314-7 off their reduced quota of 35 overs after they were asked to bat. Corwin Austin anchored the innings with a fine 101 which contained fourteen fours and four maximums. Troy Benn cracked 50 (7×4,1×6), Trevor Benn 46 (4×4,4×6), Vishal Jaigobin 39 (5×4,1×6) and Reginald Rodrigues 31 (4×4). Martin Salik snared 3-57. Third Class were skittled for 86 in 14.4 overs in reply. Salik scored 34 (7×4) as Jaigobin picked up 4-2 off two overs and Joshua Paul 4-36.
At Everest, the host trounced Diplomats by eight wickets. The visitors were bowled out for 106 in 24 overs, batting first. Shaheed Mohamed grabbed 4-16 and Javed Rasheed 2-14. Everest responded with 107-2 in 10 overs with Ashkaya Persaud scoring 47 and Mohamed 18.
