As the Ministry of Tourism continues to focus on the marketing of Guyana as a choice tourism destination, it has announced that Donald Sinclair has been appointed Director General within the Ministry.
This move will see Sinclair assisting in the planning of major tourism events and key functions as it relates to the tourism sector of the country. Sinclair was introduced to the media yesterday by the Minister of Tourism, Cathy Hughes, during a press conference at Colgrain House, Camp Street, Georgetown.
The Minister explained that Sinclair is the first to be appointed as a Director General of the Ministry of Tourism. She said too, that he has joined the team with a significant amount of skills, knowledge and experience in the Tourism Sector.
“He came from the Surinamese hospitality training school where he was a lecturer. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guyana, Masters from the University of New Bondway and a diploma in International Relations from the University of the West Indies,” the Minister divulged.
The Director General, who speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish, is no stranger to the local tourism sector, as he also worked as a member of the Guyana Tourism Authority a few years ago.
Minister Hughes is confident that Sinclair will make a significant contribution to the sector with his tourism background.
Sinclair, in thanking the Minister for the introduction said that he is looking forward to working with the Ministry to take Guyana forward in the world of Tourism.
“This is an excellent opportunity and I look forward to meeting with the stakeholders and key players who have the experience, and want to make a positive contribution to this country’s tourism sector’s development,” Sinclair said.
The Director General also worked with a few Ministers of Tourism in the past including: Manzoor Nadir, Geoffrey DaSilva and others.
