The Linden Softball Cricket League has advanced to Round Four of the Linden T10 Competition last Sunday at the Bayroc Ground. According to Organizing Secretary Mortimer Denney the four teams with the most points will advance to the Quarter, semi and Finals.
Game one of the Male competition Hill Foot Vipers defeated Kairuni by 33 runs. Hill Foot Vipers batted first and amassed 144 for 2 in 10 overs. Avansh Mohabir top scored with 64 which was decorated with 8 sixes and 1 four and Lantie Hinds with 46 (6 sixes). Merryl Adams took 1 for 26 runs.
Kairuni replied with 111 for 6 in 10 overs. Clint Patoir was the top scorer with 26 runs (2 six and 1 four) and Ron Williams 22 (1 six and 2 fours). Bowling for Hill Foot Vipers was Shamal Mohabir who took 3 for 14 in 2 overs.
Game Two – Speightland scraped past Bad Boys by 5 runs. Batting first Speightland made 103 for 6 in 10 overs. Christopher Cornelius made 35 runs and Seon Alphonso 19. Ever dependable Dodie Bridgelall bagged 2 for 9 in 2 overs and Eon Roddock 2 for 16.
Bad Boys could only muster 98 all out. Ricardo Thomas 23 and Marlon Belle 18 were top scorers. Mark Jeffrey took 3 for 12 in two overs.
Game Three – Hill Foot Vipers lost their only game so far to Pace Setters by 1 wicket. Batting First Hill Foot Vipers made 111 for 2 in 10 overs. Narine Loaknauth made 45 runs and Ruel Alleyne 24. Dellon Williams took 1 for 26 in 2 overs.
Pacesetters replied with 113 for 8 in 9.2 overs. Leon Moseley led with 46 not out and Dellon Williams 13 runs.
Game Four – Sunrise lost by 2 wickets. Kairuni scored 70 for 5 wickets in 10 overs. Sonel Griffith led with 19 runs; while Mark Jeffrey 2 for 24 in 2 overs and Denis Deamil 2 for 12 in 2 overs spearheaded Sunrise bowlers.
Sunrise could only muster 68 all out in reply. Michael Ramdamate top scored with 11 runs, while Carlos Hall bagged 4 for 20 for the winners.
The final match between Bad Boys and South Star had to be discontinued due to bad light but will be played again this Sunday.
In the First Female match Aroima won by 5 wickets. Batting first Sunrise amassed 92 all out in 10 overs. Basmattie Ramdeo top scored with 21 and Zeneta Da Silva 12. Tessa Bentick took 2 for 18 in 1 over.
Aroima replied with 93 for 5 in 9.4 overs. Tracy Hartman and Morlene Thom hit 22 apiece. Sharlene Stellingburg captured 2 for 21 and Romona Stellingburg 2 for 12.
The second female game saw All Stars Conquerors scraping past Aroima by 3 runs. All Stars Conquerors made 122 all out in 10 overs. Ulando Moore hit 47 and Annezette Carew 27. Tracyann Hartman bagged 3 for 19.
Aroima replied with 119 for 7 in 10 overs. Shellon Hope was the top scorer with 23 runs and Angeline Grimmond made 20. Nadina De Grealla picked up 3 for 13 in 2 overs. (Jacquey Bourne)
