Residents of Plantation Profit continue to suffer at the hands of rustlers. One farmer, a few days ago, was in for a surprise when he visited his pen only to find that one of his cows was slaughtered in the pen, and cut into quarters and ready for shipping.
The matter was reported at the Weldaad Police Station.
The farmer, a remigrant, said that while he could not name a suspect, residents have been frequently suffering at the hands of rustlers who seem to be well organized.
They have been losing sheep and goats, but the case of a cow being slaughtered in that proximity to the farmer’s house demonstrates that the rustlers are very bold. Residents have been looking at strategies which they may adopt to secure their livestock.
While there may be speculations as to what prevented the thief from being able to take away the meat, there can be no doubt that livestock owners in the area face a challenge.
They have reported that many attempts to steal animals have been thwarted because they try to be vigilant at all times, but they do concede that they are up against a group or groups of people who are well organized, and very persistent.
