Rose Hall Town Bakewell Under-17s, led by brilliant performances from Kelvon Anderson, Junior Sinclair and Keith Simpson made light work of West Berbice by 57 runs to win the first edition of the RHTY&SC/Farouk Kudrath Memorial Cup.

Organised under the club’s Tribute to Heroes Programme in memory of an outstanding former Administrator and played at the Area ‘H’ ground in brilliant sunshine, RHT Bakewell lost the toss and were invited to bat.
They were given a 21 run opening partnership between Junior Sinclair and Surendra Budhoo before Budhoo was run out for 10. Sinclair and the talented Kevlon Anderson, both national U-15 players, then featured in an entertaining 2nd wicket partnership of 121.
It was ended when Sinclair was trapped lbw to C. Nicholas for a well played 56 (8×4), Anderson went on to top score with an elegant 70 (7×4) and received support from Chanderpaul Govindra 15 not out and Quinton Crandon 13 not out as the home team reached 200-5 off their allotted 40 overs.
Bowling for West Berbice C. Nicholas, T. Webster, M. Macarade and Chris Ramnarine each claimed a wicket. Needing to score 201 off 40 overs, West Berbice were given a solid start from skipper Kris Ramnarine and Winifred Fordyce who put on 39 in 6 overs before national U-17 pacer Slyus Tyndall uprooted Fordyce’ middle stump for 14.
Ramnarine went on to top score with 35 (5×4); the only other players to reach double figures were C. Grant 18, Travis Carmicheal 15 and Trevon Carmicheal 13. West Berbice were bowled out for 143 off 38.3 overs.
Left arm spinner Keith Simpson bowled well to claim 5-12 from 8 overs with support from skipper Kevlon Anderson 3-15 from 6.3 overs, Slyus Tyndall and Joshua Gobin claimed a wicket each.
Anderson claimed the man-of-the-match trophy while the RHT Bakewell received the Farouk Kudrath Memorial trophy. Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster expressed gratitude to West Berbice for accepting the Club’s invitation to pay tribute to one of its most outstanding executives.
