GCA/Noble House Sea Foods tourney…GDF, GCC secure semi final spot
Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) have secured their semifinal places after taking first innings points when the latest round of matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament concluded yesterday.

At Everest, GDF took first strike and posted 212 all out in 74 overs. Leon Andrews and Damian Ross added 120 for the first wicket to give the visitors a bright start before Ross was dismissed for 39. Andrews played some lovely shots on both sides of the pitch in his top score of 74, while Jeremiah Harris made 40. Left arm spinner Javed Rasheed bagged 5-65 and Raphael Singh 2-55. Rishi Heeralall and Ronaldo Renee shared in an opening stand of 53 to set their team on course before Heeralall went for 20. Thereafter GDF did well to restrict their opponents with only Singh 25 not out, R. Persaud 23 and Gavin Sookdeo 21 offered resistance as the home team were bowled out for 182 in 49 overs.
Randy Lindore claimed 4-49 and Michael Cummerbatch 3-28. GDF were 24 without lost.
At Bourda, GCC managed 197 all out, batting first. Manny Forde and Martin Pestano Belle added 82 for the first wicket to give the host a solid start before Belle was dismissed for 46. Forde who scored 49 then shared in a second wicket stand of 62 with K. Moonsammy (09), but when they were separated only Daquan Murray 23 and Stephan Wilson 21 showed fight as Surendra Heerlall snared 4-38 and Divesh Ramjattan 2-40.
Gandhi Youth Organisation scored 168 all out in 44 overs. Bhaskar Yadram led with 66 not out, Alex Ramalho made 26 and Threton Liverpool 21. Left arm spinner Wilson grabbed five wickets while Samuel Mc Kenzie had two.
Belle then fashioned a fine century to lead GCC to 235-7 at stumps on the final day. Belle stroked eighteen fours in his unbeaten 150, while Khemraj Kareem made 29; Trevon France took three wickets.
