An accident yesterday involving a private car and a police vehicle on Mandela Avenue has landed a woman in hospital.
Injured is Bel Air Promenade resident, Prya Naraine, 48, who reportedly lost consciousness after her head hit the side window of her car.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman who had to be rushed for medical attention was in her red Kia car, PPP 8793, which was hit by police patrol vehicle Nissan PTT 5967. “The red car turn right from Norton Street on to Mandela Avenue and a police vehicle slam into the right side of it and the car run into the gutter,” one woman on the scene said. The time was 12:45 hours.
Based on reports the police vehicle was speeding without sirens. The woman’s husband who was summoned to the scene could not say how severe his wife’s injuries were but expressed the hope that she did not suffer a concussion.
Eyewitnesses said that the police were reportedly heading to a crime scene.
