Town Clerk of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, (M&CC) Royston King, has chided workers over their level of commitment to restore the city’s drainage system.
Speaking at a forum yesterday, the Town Clerk reiterated that the council has been working assiduously to restore the integrity of the drainage system in Georgetown.
In view of the fact that the attitude of the work force is important to the restoration process, a special meeting was organised to address employees designated to desilt and clean street drains, alleyway drains and canals around the city.
Underlining the fact that the venture requires hard work, King called on the workers to be responsible, punctual, dedicated and committed to the cause.
The Town Clerk warned, “Slackers will not be allowed to ride the system.” Alluding to the fact that the Council is providing employees with the requisite tools to get the work done, King told workers that their callous attitude towards the work must change.
The M&CC administrator called on the employees to move away from mediocrity and embrace a spirit of excellence, adding that each worker has a critical role to play in the restoration of the drainage system.
King pointed to the fact that the council must provide an excellent service to the valued taxpayers.
As such, the Council is expected to launch a city -wide refuse receptacle campaign, today.
The campaign is a direct response to the absence of refuse receptacle, one of the contributing factors to littering in the city. The exercise is set to start at Lacytown and Bourda.
