UPPER CORENTYNE 4R T20…Latchman and Ramdat star in latest results
The cricket fever is high in the Upper Corentyne as the 4R T20 competition continued last Sunday with 16 matches at 8 venues.
Some results are as follows: At No. 73: No. 72 All Star batted first and scored 107 for 9 in their 20 overs with Devendranauth Jairam 29 being the top scorer. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors Chanderkumar Ramjass took 3 for 23 off 4 overs and Lakeram Latchman 2 for 21 off 4 overs. In reply No. 73 Young Warriors reached 110 for 4 in 17.2 overs with Lakeram Latchman 62* and extras 21 being the principal scorers. Bowling for No. 72 All Star K. Joseph took 3 for 13 off 3 overs.

In the second game at No. 73 ground; No. 73 Young Warriors were bowled out for 75 in 19.2 overs batting first against Corriverton. Lakeram Latchman 19 was the top scorer. Bowling for Corriverton Deoprakash Ramdat bagged 5 for 15 off 4 overs and Eric Phillips 2 for 6 off 3.2 overs. In reply Corriverton reached 76 off 9.3 overs with Clavern Beresford 41 and Amzan Appalsammy 24* being the main scorers. Bowling for No. 73 Young Warriors Lakeram Latchman took 2 for 11 off 3 overs.
Over at No. 72 ground: No. 69 Vikings defeated No. 72 Cut and Load by 8 wickets. No. 72 Cut and Load batted first and scored 101 all out in 17.3 overs, H. Persaud top scored with 27 and R. Persaud 18. Bowling for No. 69 Vikings Latchman Roopchan took 3 for 10 off 4 overs, Wadikar Ramrattan took 2 for 8 off 2 overs and Totaram Persaud 2 for 14 off 3.3 overs. In reply No. 69 Vikings raced to 106 for 2 off 10 overs with former Guyana under 19 batsman Viendra Gooniah top scored with 46, Latchman Roopchand 29 and V. Lallbeharry 20 lead the chase for the Vikings. Davanand Chatterpaul was the pick of the No. 72 Cut and Load bowlers taking 1 for 16 off 2 overs.
Over at Scottsburg: Scottsburg United defeated No. 72 All Star by 6 wickets. Batting first No. 72 All Star were bowled out for 83 off 15 overs. A. Hemchand top scored with 41 runs. Bowling for Scottsburg United Aaron Jeffrey took 3 for 21 off 3 overs, Raymon Lowenfield took 2 for 20 off 4 overs and Oden Kyte 2 for 10 off 3 overs. In reply Scottsburg raced to 84 for 4 off 16 overs. Aaron Jeffrey returned with the bat and top score with 33 not out and was supported by Shaun Jackman 16 not out. Bowling for No. 72 All Star D. Deochan took 2 for 18 off 4 overs.

This competition is sponsored by Mr. Ricky Deonarain of 4R Bearing of Georgetown and is being organized by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA). The competition started with 20 teams from Yakusari to Crabwood Creek playing in four zones with the top two teams in each zone advancing to the knock out rounds. The preliminary stage is being played on a home and away basis with the winner taking home $100,000 and trophy. The final will be played under lights at the Crabwood Creek Sports Complex.
