Dear Editor,
Time is of the essence. This I strongly feel, and so too I hope the new government is inclined.
The past PPP government was accused time and time again of blatant bribery and corruption. Who knew, knew, and for sure some of the members of the current government also knew.
So what has happened so far in the rule of the new government? Not much from the public standpoint.
Forensic audits are ongoing, paper trails are being followed. The public has provided some leads and information they know of. It is a beehive with the auditors, with past officials and with current officials.
Has any charge of corruption been as yet laid? Nope!
The charge against Minister Westford was laid despite the fact that she was responding to an amnesty offer and on the face of it seems not in keeping with that amnesty.
For that reason I would discount it, which means that no charge of corruption has as yet been laid.
Time is of the essence.
The new government has to get charges laid without delay. Get some cases going. There is no need to bargain and settle behind closed doors, while the public is kept in the dark and losing faith.
Take the bull by the horns and act. Time is of the essence I say.
