The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) continued its drive to expand the game – the entity presented a quantity of balls and a net to the Buxton Youth Developers School at a simple ceremony held on Tuesday.
President of GVF, John Flores was excited by the prospect of what can happen as result of this initiative. He was optimistic about the possibility of the sport developing within the community to the point that they are able to field senior and junior teams at local competitions and expects that youths especially, will benefit from the donation.
Robin Phillips, who received the equipment of behalf of the school, thanked the GVF and explained that of the six school days (Monday – Saturday), Friday and Saturday are set aside for sports.
The GVF intends to continue its expansion drive but is yet to announce their next stop as they now have to give significant attention to the remaining events on their calendar for 2015. A premier league for males and females’ elite teams and the Tradewind Tankers International tournament are scheduled for October and November respectively.
