Dear Editor,
Here comes Norman Whittaker jumping out of his sleep to once again pen his usual attack on a system which he as Regional Chairman and subsequently Minister, used and abused. Whittaker the new Pope in town is suggesting that all REOs with the new Government are political appointees. Could he say which of the REOs in his administration were not aligned to the PPP?
Region 1 Barima/Waini – the first REO appointed soon after with the 1992 elections was the Sub Treasury Officer at Mabaruma. He, on the morning of October 06, shouted out in the Administration Office – ‘Is we time NOW!’ That was his qualification to become the new Regional Executive Officer. All other REOs that followed were out of the PPP mould.
I do admire that Mr. Whittaker feels free to watch all the REOs. All the REOS have quite a task to clean up the quagmire left in the wake of the tsunami of corruption left by the PPP government.
Who was it that saw it fit to go into his office to clear out stuff at night? Mr. Whittaker boasts that the PPP won in most of the Regions. Quite true, but please let the gentleman be informed lest he has not recognise it as yet – the country is now being run by a decent Government! So he needs to let his Regional Chairmen know that PPP is not in power!
