Dear Editor,
I am a daily reader of your newspaper and can’t understand why Kaieteur News can’t do a better job of investigative journalism in determining Bharat Jagdeo’s earnings versus accumulated wealth. As a public official his earnings must be part of the public record. Add them up year by year and you will have gross earnings. It may not be very difficult to figure out net earnings. Since he has had no other jobs of consequence, that should be a very fair estimate of cash available to him. Then value his assets…this will start the conversation on how he is able to afford them. This information should be published and Mr. Jagdeo put on the spot to give answers. You might even surprise yourself and force government to prosecute him..if the gap is too great.
Your paper seems to genuinely care about Guyana and its future, but you need to do a better job in this area.
Concerned reader
