Marketing Manager of Demerara Mutual, Clarence Perry (left), hands over the sponsorship cheque to Lusignan Golf Club President, Oncar Ramroop.
Golfers are look forward excitedly to another annual Demerara Mutual Life sponsored Golf Tournament at the LGC today from 12:30 p.m.
Demerara Mutual Assurance Society (Dem Life) one of the main providers of Life, Health, Loss and other financial indemnities in Guyana, and established since 1891, has been supportive of golfing in Guyana for over 2 decades. The annual Dem Life tournament is normally hosted about July but because of the weather and the state of the grounds the tournament is being hosted in September this year.
Marketing Manager of Demerara Mutual, Clarence Perry, in handing over the sponsorship cheque to Lusignan Golf Club President, Oncar Ramroop, expressed the Company’s continued commitment to the development of the sport in Guyana. President Ramroop thanked Dem Mutual for their unflinching support.
In 2014, under the Flights format, 1st and 2nd place winners of the different Flights were: 0–9 handicaps Flight -Mohanlall Dinanauth, 4/69, and William Walker, 7/70; 10–18Flight; Bolaram Deo 17/66, and Colin Ming, 13/68; 19-24 handicaps Flight – David Mohamad, 23/62, and Troy Cadogan 24/71. Then President David Mohamad’s net score, which would have won him the Best Player score on the open Medal Play system, had produced a record for the 19 – 28 handicapper Flight.
Interestingly before the 2014 tournament, David Mohamed, had expressed his confidence that the growing enthusiasm of players was likely to contribute to new records – and he himself produced one.
In 2013, under the Medal Play format, it was Brian Hackett, Maurice Solomon, and William Walker who carted off the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places of the Dem Life Tournament.
This year, it is certain that some of those previous winners would be in keen contention, but Pur Persaud is not going away from the winning slate! So competition is expected to be keen and refreshing!
The public is invited to view the competition which tends to last between 4 to 5 hours.
