Guyana was able to secure a historic bronze medal in the Girls doubles of the squash competition at the recently held Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
The fifth ranked Girls team beat Norfolk and upset Australia to finish third and secure the bronze medal.
Taylor Fernandes and Larissa Wiltshire played the number two ranked Malaysia and lost 11-3, 11-3 in a two best of three, they then played Australia and won 11-9, 7-11, 11-10 in a sudden-death tie-breaker with Australia on serve.
Guyana then lost against top-ranked New Zealand. The Guyana girls played very well, but lost 11-7 and 11-9.
They beat Norfolk 11-2, 11-5 exploiting the weaker player of the pair to gain the well deserved bronze medal.
