Dear Editor,
Pray tell me why is Kim Davis the Kentucky Court Clerk being seen as the solitary symbol of religious opposition against same sex marriage or would that be mirage as compared to what the Good Lord has deemed a marital union.
Now is the time for the church to be heard loud and clear, and other countries should take note.
There have been repeated warnings of the fate that would befall committed Christians if they held firm to their convictions.
Permit me to set the records straight that while Davis is standing her religious grounds, she is not the one who fired the first salvo or set the wheels in motion.
Yes, her behaviour is revolutionary, depending on the viewer and his religious stance.
What about the Supreme Court that concocted out of whole cloth a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, using legal ‘reasoning’ that reads more like a religious tract than a court opinion.
Keeping it real, Davis is standing for marriage as God intended it, and more fundamentally, is refusing to violate her conscience as a Christian, and that is the issue at hand, not breaking the law as they would have us all believe.
Make no mistake about it. Churches, you cannot afford to be merely peeping, or partly sleeping; your time is soon nigh and you must make a stand now. Following Jesus may soon be extremely costly.
It is time for the church to make a hit and give us more from the pulpit.
God has said that the gates of Hell would not prevail against is church, so the question that must be asked, if the churches today are really based on the church Christ created, if so, pray tell me where is the power?
When Daniel became discouraged, as is recorded in the book of Daniel, the angel told him, not to be discouraged, “these things must come to pass”.
As Guyanese do we think that it will come to pass only in certain countries even though we read, and study from the same Bible, regardless of version?
If so, we must free ourselves from such a myopic and delusional view.
Incidentally, in all the grand scheme of laws and non-compliance there is still one unanswered question: under exactly what law Davis is being commanded to issue marriage licenses to gay couples?
Nevertheless, the law regarding the church and its duty/ obligations is crystal clear. The church cannot afford to be peeping or sleeping. In Galatians 3:1 John asks “who has bewitched you”? You have been warned and forewarned.
