A verbal confrontation that resulted in a fight has landed a Sophia resident in hot water with the law.
Steve Moore, 28, of Lot 11 North Sophia, Georgetown was yesterday released on $50,000 bail after he was charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Keith Johnson, at North Sophia. Moore, who was represented by Attorney, Keisha Chase, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him by City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.
The attorney informed the court that her client was not a flight risk. She added that the defendant is employed at Sankar Auto works and has no antecedents.
According to Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones, the parties had a misunderstanding that escalated into a scuffle.
He did not disclose any other information to the court and had no objections to the defendant being granted pre trial liberty. However, Jones asked that bail be set in a substantial sum to ensure the defendant’s return for trial.
This matter will be called again on September 18, for statements.
