Vishnu Singh, the son of former Guyana Rice Development Board big wig, Jagnarine Singh, has landed in trouble again. This time he is cooling off in the Camp Street prison after he was found with an unlicenced weapon.
Kaieteur News understands that a mere one hour before the firearm amnesty commenced the police responded to a report of the indiscriminate discharging of a firearm at Montrose, East Coast Demerara.
When they arrived, Singh, who was heavily under the influence of alcohol, was pointed out to them and they confronted him.
According to the police a search was carried out on Singh and an unlicensed 9mm. Glock pistol with three rounds was found. Four spent shells were also found at the scene.
The 24-year-old was arrested and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where he spent the night.
The police wasted no time in taking him to court early yesterday morning and he was promptly remanded to prison.
The young man first came into notoriety in January this year when he was charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
