Dominoes teams in Wakenaam will renew their rivalry this weekend when the Trophy Stall sponsored tournament takes place at Amit Ramnarine Sports Bar, Good Success. The tournament which will be run under the auspices of the Wakenaam Dominoes Association (WDA) will get underway at 09:30hrs and among the teams set to battle for supremacy are Underdog, Allstar, Seawall Boys, Rugged and Melville.
The winning and runner up teams as well as the most valuable player will receive trophies and cash prizes. Entrance fee is $6,000. In an invited comment, Malenee Narine of Trophy Stall Bourda Market said they are pleased to be associated with the sport on the island adding that it is their way of giving back to the society. She stated that sport helps to unite and develop communities.
Meanwhile, Allstar won the Amit Ramnarine competition which was contested on Sunday last. Allstar tallied 74 games to finish ahead of Bad Boys on 58 and Underdog 54. Vijay Persaud chalked up 15 games while Mohamed Kalam Zafrull made 13 for the winners.
