The inaugural Forbes Burnham Memorial 10/10 knock-out softball competition will culminate today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue with Regal, Herstelling, Speed Boat and Adventure battling for supremacy.
They all recorded victories in their respective quarterfinal games which were contested yesterday at Everest Cricket Club. Regal overcame Success Warriors by 92 runs. Batting first, Regal rattled up 172-4 in 10 overs. Chien Gittens struck 59 while Fazal Rafeek made 19; Vishwanauth Geewan took 2-18. Success Warriors replied with 80-5 in 10 overs. Herstelling trounced South Star of Linden by 52 runs. Herstelling took first strike and posted 130-8 in 10 overs. Rawl Reid stroked 55 and Shameer Fazal 21. O. Samuel took 2-26. South Star were bowled out for 78 in 9.2 overs in response. D. Bell got 25 as Richie Debidyal grabbed 4-6 and Reid 3-8. Speed Boat upset Wolf’s Warriors by 45 runs. Speed Boat scored 135-7 in 10 overs, batting first.
Greg Singh slammed 51 and Ganesh Narine 35. Wolf’s Warriors were restricted to 90-5 in 10 overs. Vishnu Tammechandra made 19.
Adventure of Essequibo Coast beat De Hoop Sports Club by 43 runs. Adventure managed 123-8 in 10 overs, taking first knock while De Hoop responded with 80-9 in 10 overs.
Adventure will take on Speed Boat in the first semi final while Regal will meet Herstelling in the second.
Action gets underway at 09:00hrs while Caribbean Hotshots band will provide off field entertainment.
