A spirited performance by host Madhia male team produced a hard fought 4-3 victory over their Maikobie counterparts when the teams collided in a friendly football encounter recently as part of their preparation for the upcoming Heritage games.
The contest provided fans from both Amerindian communities much to cheer about; the visitors took the lead in the 37th minute off the booth of Aaron Domingo before Madhia drew level in the 44th when Alvin Daniels found the back of the net.
John Joseph netted in the 49th minute to give the home team the advantage, but Leon Johnson found the equalizer in the 57th. Bobby Nasa Justice slotted home in the 66th as Madhia once again grabbed the lead which was short-lived after Quacy Domingo scored for Maikobie in the 72nd minute.
Both teams continued to push for the winner and created several chances, but it was Madhia who prevailed as Travis Hyman netted in the 89th minute. However Maikobie tasted success when their female team thumped Madhia 3-0 in their match-up.
Camille Fredericks scored in the 22nd and 54th minute while Diane Xavier found the back of the net in the 82nd.
