More $B bids opened for GWI upgrades

Under the Ministry of Communities, bids were submitted on behalf of Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) for the design, supply and implementation of water treatment facilities and upgrade of reticulation (pipe networks) at Uitvlugt (West Coast Demerara), Diamond (East Bank Demerara) and Sheet Anchor (East Canje, Berbice). The engineer’s estimate for this bid was US$14,404,406.
This follows on the heels of multi-million-dollar bids submitted earlier in the month. Those bids had targeted the transmission mains in Lamaha Park; Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Campbellville areas.

Another recurring feature was the bids submitted for the renovation of the Office of the Prime Minister, Main Street. This was done under the Ministry of the Presidency. It follows on the heels of a multi-million-dollar project to rehabilitate the Prime Minister’s residence, for which bids were opened in June.
The tender for works on the Office of the Prime Minister was divided into two lots. The engineer’s estimate for lot 1 was $20,311,390 while the engineer’s estimate for lot 2 was $18,417,630.
