Success Warriors, Adventure and Airy Hall recorded victories when the Forbes Burnham Memorial knock out 10/10 softball competition continued on Sunday.
In Demerara, Success Warriors defeated Rock Away by 14 runs at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara. Batting first, Success Warriors posted 116-6 in10 overs. Seewhkumar Boodram struck 26 while Premnauth Sukhan made 23 and Devindra Deosarran 15. A. Singh, M. Ramlakhan and M. Chanel took two wickets each.
Rockaway replied with 102-8 in 10 overs. D. Samaroo cracked 34 and A. Singh 20; Puran John and Vishnu Jeewan had two scalps apiece.
At Anna Regina, Essequibo Adventure got the better of Endeavour by seven wickets. Endeavour took first strike and were skittled for 61 in 7.4 overs. Raouf Ali made 29 as Eikee Baksh claimed 3-6 and Bolo Sankar 2-16. Adventure responded with 63-3 in 4.2 overs. Shawn Grosvenor slammed 33 and Govendra Sharma made 15. Adventure have drawn the bye to the final of Region two leg.
Airy Hall got the better of Shawn XI by 29 runs. Airy Hall batted first and scored 147-4 in 10 overs. Norman Fredericks stroked 47 and Chandi Jairam 43; Thakur Shamlall captured 2-24. Shawn XI replied with 118-9 in 10 overs. Ganesh Mangal made 42 as Seo Sankar and Rudy Dess picked up two wickets apiece.
Adventure overcame Airy Hall by three wickets. Airy Hall scored 102-8 in 10 overs, taking first knock. Chandy Jairam led with 42 while Nisan Khan made 16; Eikee Baksh grabbed 3-17 and Govendra Sharma 2-19. Adventure responded with 103-7 in 92 overs. Shawn Grosvenor slammed 44; Fredericks and Avinash Remanan claimed two scalps apiece.
The competition is being organised by the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc in collaboration with the People’s National Congress Reform and will conclude on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground.
