Undertakers were summoned yesterday to remove the body of an unidentified man from the roundhouse situated on the Kingston seawall. It was transported to the Lyken Funeral Home just after 16: 30hrs.
When Kaieteur News arrived on the scene the police had already wrapped up their investigative work and the door to the roundhouse was secured with rusted chains.
While the structure has not been officially used for a while, vagrants have created an entrance by removing several pieces of lattice work and made it their home.
The dreadlocked man was among the lot residing there for more than 10 years according to others who referred to him as ‘Rasta man.’ He is believed to be in his early 40s.
The spot where the body was removed from had a few traces of blood but the latticework at the makeshift entrance was spattered.
A five-gallon bucket close by contained a quantity of what appeared to be blood and a blood-stained rag was found on the floor. Outside of the structure below the makeshift entrance some large rocks were covered with what also appeared to be blood.
Sources from the funeral home said the man may have been hit to the back of his head as there was evidence of blood there and a mark.
Items such as a cutlass and an ice-pick were on the floor across from where the man’s body was removed.
However, at the scene some of those who also reside under the structure said the man may have had a terminal illness, possibly tuberculosis, as he was seen earlier bleeding through his nose and regurgitating lots of blood. They were silent when asked if the man may have been injured, but noted that he did odd jobs about the area.
