Leon Yaw scored in the second minute to give Alexander Village a 1-0 victory over North East La Penitence when the RDE Vybz King’s of the street champion of champions football tournament commenced on Saturday at the Sparta Go Slow turf, Tucville.
Showstoppers beat Front Road 3-2 on penalties after they were locked on 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Alberttown overcame Showstoppers B 1-0 (penalties), Festival City went down to Broad Street 3-4 (penalties), Queen Street Tigerbay beat Albouystown 1-0 (penalties), Samaroo Dam edged Globe Yard 1-0 (penalties).
The competition continues today at Sparta Go Slow turf, Tucville with Jetty Ballers facing Mocha Ballers, Brother United playing Back Circle, East Ruimveldt matching skills with Den Amstel, Melanie battling West Ruimveldt, Sophia challenging Patentia Street Ballers, Cross Street taking on Ben Street, Island entertaining West Side Ballers, North Ruimveldt tackling BV Ballers and Sparta Boss facing Raiders.
Meanwhile, the organisers have received sponsorship from Dexter’s Jewellery for the staging of the event.
