Dear Sports Editor,
I would like to first of all congratulate the Executives and Members of the Guyana Cricket Board. Secondly, I must say congrats to the players and management of the senior 4-Day team, the Under-19 team and the Under-15 team.
For the second year these youngsters have proven that Guyanese cricket talent when properly managed, can achieve miracles.
To the Executives of the GCB, despite the many challenges you faced from within and from the previous government, you were able to stay focused and deliver good enough teams to win in 2014 and ably defend your titles in 2015.
Also, after almost 20 years, you were able to capture the Regional 4-Day title now called the WICB Professional Cricket League. Kudos to all involved and I do hope the Georgetown Cricket Association and East Coast Cricket Association can see the light and join with you guys. It has been four years since these Associations have participated in any competitions of the GCB. I must thank Mr. Anil Persaud and Mr. Gavin Nedd for ensuring that the kids on East Coast and Georgetown participated and were selected to national youth squads.
Editor, I do hope that with the formulation of a National Sports Policy (not the controversial Cricket Bill), our government can assist those successful sport Associations to enhance their performance. Those Associations that performed creditable should be awarded appropriately to encourage the men and women that volunteer their services.
Congrats again, Guyana Cricket Board!!!
Yours in Sports,
Anand Dyal
