Play in the inaugural GT Beer / Petra Organisation Futsal Tournament resumes tonight with four more matches, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. In the opening fixture, Queen Street Tigerbay tackles Kitty Weavers, before Bent Street takes on West Back Road.
Sparta Boss then goes up against Globe Yard, while Agricola square off against Festival City in the final encounter. The Queen Street versus Kitty Rangers affair is an interesting matchup because both teams will be looking to register their first set of points in the competition.
Queen Street will no doubt be depending on Quincy Hemmerding, Alpha Fletchman and Darren Harris to lead their charge for victory, while the Weavers pursuit of a win will definitely rest on the shoulders of Nigel Denny, Jermaine Willis and Sherwin Vincent.
In the second encounter, Bent Street will be hoping that they could tame the competitive instincts of West Back Road who will be led by Jason Tyrell, Eon Hayde and Phillip Rowley. Sparta Boss then rumble with Globe Yard and this encounter should favour the former who have in their lineup the likes of Travis Grant, Sheldon Shepherd, Denis Edwards, Deon Alfred and Carl Tudor.
Globe Yard’s chances of scoring an upset likely depend on the performances of Sherwin Grimes and Gordon Henry. Agricola who started their campaign on a positive note will no doubt be looking to continue their mesmeric run when they face Festival City.
Kacy John, Glen Eastman, Gordon Grant and Anthony Rollins will be the key marksmen for Agricola, while Festival City’s pursuit for their second win in as many matches will be shouldered by the prolific Dwayne Lawrence, Solomon Austin and Eon Alleyne.
Winner of the tournament will collect $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers take home $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 respectively.
