RDE Vybz in collaboration with King’s of the street, champion of champions football tournament which was set to kick off yesterday, has been rescheduled to start today at the Sparta Turf in Go Slow Avenue dues to several unforeseen circumstances.
Member of the Organising Committee, Easn Pyle, informed that they faced several setbacks and were forced to move the start to today.
Matches are now fixed for August 22, 25, 26, 28 and 29 at the Sparta Turf, while on September 4, 5 and 6 play will be at the Pouderoyen Tarmac.
32 teams in eight groups are vying to advance to the playoffs. The winner pockets $400,000, the runner up $150,000, third place $80,000 and fourth place $20,000. Entrance fee is per team $2,000.
Yesterday, the organizers collected more sponsorship, this time West Indian Sports Complex chipped in.
The teams on show are: Group A -Show Stopper, Alberttown, Melanie and Gold is Money. Group B- Glob Yard, Alexander Village, North East and Sam Roo Dam. Group C-Broad Street, Jette, Admiral United and Festival City. Group D-Albouystown, Leopold Street, Agricola and World Boss. Group E-Brothers United, Back Circle, Sophia and Patentia. Group F-Tiger Bay, East Ruimveldt, Den Amstel and West Ruimveldt. Group G-Sparta Boss, Cross Street, Plaisance and Raiders. Group H-North Ruimveldt, Island, West Side Ballers and BV FC.
The opening fixtures had read: Alberttown will face Melanie, Jette will play Admiral United, Glob Yard will take on Sam Roo Dam, Broad Street will match skills with Festival City, Alexander Village will challenge North East, Albouystown will face Parfaite Harmonie, Show Stoppers will entertain Gold is Money and Leopold Street will clash with Agricola.
The competition is being sponsored by Xtra Beer, Xtra energy drink, Sparta Boss, Dev Grocery, Up Rising Beverage and Car Rental, West Indian Sports Complex, Sankar Auto sale, Trophy Stall and Roy’s Pharmacy.
