– Georgetown’s Guardians play Bulls, Colts clash with Jets
The inaugural Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Forbes Burnham Memorial Basketball Championships bounces off Saturday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with two Georgetown versus Linden clashes, scheduled to start at 7pm.
In the opening game of the double-header, Georgetown’s Plaisance Guardians will play Linden’s One Mile Bulls, while Georgetown’s Colts romp with Linden’s Amelia’s Ward Jets in the second game of the knockout tournament.
The tournament continues the following day with another mouth-watering double-header, which brings together arguably the four best teams in the tournament from Linden and Georgetown in the first round of the competition.
National Club Champions, Pacesetters comes up against Retrieve Raiders in the first game on Sunday while Dyna’s Ravens play Victory Valley Royals in the featured game. The winner from the Colts/Jets game will play the winner of the Ravens/Royals showdown next Wednesday night at the same venue.
The competition will conclude on August 30 with the winner pocketing $100,000 and the second place team taking home $60,000. The third place team will take home $40,000. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top three clubs while trophies will be presented to the MVP, Best Uniformed Team and Most Disciplined Team.
