The Cricket Development Committee of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club is forging ahead with plans for the Assuria Insurance 5-Overs Knockout Second Division Tournament scheduled this Sunday, at the Area “H” Ground in Rose Hall Town. The tournament which is being organised under the club’s Say No to Drugs and Crime Programme would feature twelve second division teams with one guest team from West Bank Demerara, the All Youth Sports Club. The guest team has been included to improve the quality of the cricket on the field for the tournament and to add a non-Berbice flavour for spectators. The other teams in the tournament are Rose Hall Town “A”, Rose Hall Town “B”, Blairmont, D’Edward, Cotton Tree, Crabwood Creek Sports Club, Courtland, Tamarind Root, Police and Yakusari of Black Bush Polder. The Winning team would receive $70,000 and a trophy, the runner up $30,000 and trophy and the losing team $20,000 and trophy. Man of the Finals would receive $5,000 and trophy, while officials of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and the “B” Division of the Guyana Police Force would use the opportunity to speak to all of the players and spectators about the Say No to Drugs and Crime Message. All teams are expected to be at the Area “H” Ground by 08.15 hours to enable the organisers to start the tournament at 09.00 hours.
Meanwhile, several Clubs have named their players for the tournament. Those are:
Courtland All Stars: – John Percival (Caaptain), Eon Gibson, Wesley Crandon, Michael Cummings, Oliver Giddings, Esuan Crandon, Troy Mathieson, Keon Sinclair, Levi Thomas, Jamal Cort, Trellon Cort, Timothy Mc Donald, Delon Crandon and Dwayne Crandon.
Tamarind Root Cricket Club: – Adrian Singh (Captain), Kunal Mangal, Altaf Mohamed, Mahendra Ramdihal, Avinash Looknauth, Linden Austin, Andy Mohan, Dillip Ramsammy, Kevin Madramootoo, Alvin Ramsass, Deonarine Rangasammy, Prem Deonarine, Ravi Ramdass and Manzzoor Budhu.
Yakusari Caribs Cricket Team: – Naipaul IyaNA (Captain), Keshore Ayana, Cchuramanie Ayana, Ramesh Ayana, Rajendra Bownauth, Ryan Bownauth, Altaf Mohamed, TerrenceBudhu, Karamchand Singh, Jason Watson, Karim Amin, David Bhola, Vijai Ayana, Kuldep Ayana and Khelawan Phagu.
Police Sports Club: – Philbert Wilburg (Captain), Brentnol Woolford, Martin Ssingh, Wayne Richardss, Carl Campbelle, Elon Schultz, Kelvin Sinclair, Lawrence Thomas, Collis Cort, Marlon Shepherd, Clinton Lindie, Haslyn George, Jamal Jerrick, Leon Andrews and Charles Granon. Manager – Ryan Joe.
