On another warm day at the 133rd Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships being held under the auspices of the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association (DCRA) at the Connaught Range, Ottawa, Ontario, Guyana’s Lennox Braithwaite and Mahendra Persaud continues to show good form while Trinidadian Norris Gomez is holding his own also.
On another hot day, Braithwaite and Persaud shot a possible each at 300m and 500m while Gomez did so at 800m, Braithwaite narrowly missing out on a third possible at the 800m range by a single point.
Braithwaite, the reigning Caribbean Individual Champion for the past three years, dropped just 3 points out of a possible 200 at four ranges on Monday’s second day; he dropped two at 600m. Gomez doped 6, while Persaud dropped 7.
In both the Norman Beckett (300m & 800) and John Brick (500m & 600m), Braithwaite placed 10th but overall going into yesterday’s third day, Norris Gomez was 30th overall in the Grand Aggregate with 290-27 followed closely by Persaud and Braithwaite at 31 and 32 with 290-21 and 289-33, respectively.
The Overall leader in the Grand Aggregate is Bob Pitcam (298-24) of Canada, John Deane (297-35) of Great Britain and another Canadian, Peter Westlake (297-24).
Following are the scores from Monday’s four ranges along with the Grand Aggregate for Sunday and Monday after six ranges of competition.
