As part of its corporate responsibility, the Odyssey Transport Services which is located at 171 A Light Street, Georgetown has made a timely donation to the Akiwini village cricket team of Pomeroon.
At a simple ceremony held on Saturday at its boat port, Lookout, East Bank Essequibo, the entity donated two bats, three pairs of batting gloves, two pairs of batting pads, one pair wicket-keeping pad, one pair wicket-keeping gloves and bat rubbers to the club.
Upon receiving the equipment, Roy Anthony Ferreira of Akiwini village expressed gratitude to the company and said it will help to boost the sport in the area.
Chief Executive Officer of Odyssey Transport Services Feroze Barakat explained that he is very happy to contribute towards the growth of the game there and hope his input will motivate the youths.
The village is set to host a one week tournament for teams in Pomeroon shortly.
