City Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan granted bail in the sum of $500,000 to a father of two on Wednesday, after he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Peter Moore is accused of driving motor canter GRP 8102, in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Harry Daley, on April 31, last, at Craig, East Bank Demerara.
He was not required to plead to the charge after it was read to him.
Moore, who was represented by Attorney Clive Forde, will make his next court appearance on August 19, before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones did not oppose the accused being granted his pre-trial liberty, neither did he reveal any facts about what transpired on the day in question.
During a bail application, Moore’s lawyer asked that his client be released on reasonable bail. He informed the court that his client is not a flight risk and has no antecedents.
The attorney pointed out that after the accident his client rendered assistance by transporting Daley to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
Forde added that his client waited at the hospital until the police arrived.
In concluding, the lawyer said that Moore was released on $100,000 station bail. He also assured the court that the accused will make every effort to attend all his court hearings.
