DEAR EDITOR,
It was between 11:00 and 11:15 pm on Friday 7th August. I was in the Charlestown community playing a game of dominoes. When the game was finished, a robbery occurred at the venue; people were running for their safety.
While lying there on my belly I was thinking, “is there any place where persons can be safe?” Dominoes is a sport where small persons would come out to play to have fun, and to know that they are being targetted or robbed is absurd. The Turning Point proprietor was shot in one ordeal while returning fire at the bandits and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
This is the third dominoes venue which has suffered at the hands of bandits. These dominoes clubs are there to keep the sport alive.
I’m calling on the Minister of Public Security to take into consideration that people’s lives are at stake and they need to increase security and put street lights where needed so that persons can be safer. There are still too many guns on the streets and everyday people are being terrorized. Mr. Minister, is there anywhere citizens of this country can be safe or feel safe again?
Frustrated
