Director of Sport (DoS) Christopher Jones recently welcomed Barbados Cricket Coach Richard HE Clarke and a visiting team of circketers from the Island to the National Sports Commission on Homestretch Avenue.

According to a release, the Director welcomed the Barbados team to Guyana and to his office and extended best wishes to them for a successful tour.
Clarke in his response said he was extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to meet with the Director of Sport in Guyana and thanked Sports Officer attached to the Commission Allister Munroe for making the visit possible.
Clarke, who is no stranger to these shores, spoke of the wonderful job that Munroe has been doing over the years to keep windball cricket alive in Guyana, before meeting with students currently participating in the Department of Sport ‘Teach Them Young’ cricket programme at the National Park Tarmac.
Clarke, whose first visit to Guyana was in 2009 when he brought a female team to participate in a tournament, also took the opportunity to impart some of his knowledge to the students’ atanding the programme.
The sessions are being organized by Sport Officer A Munroe.
