The outstanding work of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club received a massive boost with a financial contribution from the Calcutta Sports Club of Freeport, Central Trinidad. The Vice President of the Trinidad based National League Two teams Mr. Naushad Mohamed paid a surprise visit to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Area “H” Office handed over a donation to the Club’s youth development programmes.
Vice President Mohamed in handing over the donation, stated that the Trinidad based club was very impressed with the work of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, especially its Youth Development Programmes directed to youths in Region 5 and 6. He stated that he and the Trinidad Club have followed the activities of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club with great interest as one of its overseas players was from the Area “H” Ground Club.
Eon Hooper, a Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club First Division player, played for Calcutta Sports Club and Mohamed described him as a remarkable sport ambassador and outstanding cricketer on and off the cricket field. Mohamed, a long serving cricket official in the Twin Island Republic, pledged his club’s continued assistance to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and expressed an interest about learning more of the Club’s highly successful Say No To Drugs, Crime and Suicide and Say Yes to Education and Sports Programme.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster accepting the financial donation expressed gratitude to Mohamed and his Club. The donation would be used to purchase school bags and footwear for less fortunate students in Region 6. He also congratulated Eon Hooper for his positive representation of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club while being on his overseas stint and for seeking assistance for the outreach campaign, which was co-ordinated by the different cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club. Foster also announced that the Club would be assisting several clubs with sport gears in the 4th quarter in 2015 under a joint project with the Guyana Police Force.
