Outstanding bowling performances by spinners Sagar Hathiramani and Ashmead Nedd spearheaded host Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) to a comprehensive six-wicket victory over St. Leonard’s Secondary School of Barbados in a 50-over contest yesterday.
Hathiramani finished with 4-6 off 7.2 overs, while Nedd grabbed 4-16 from eight as St. Leonard’s who recently won the Sir Garfield Sobers international schools’ tournament were bowled out for 89 in 40 overs after they elected to bat.
Sadrian Ward was the only batsman that offered any resistance with a top score of 26 which contained three fours and one six.
DCC lost Raymond Perez (08), Sachin Singh (05) and Joshua Persaud (09) early on but Sherfene Rutherford took the host within sights of victory before he was dismissed for 36. He smashed four fours and two maximums. Alphius Bookie and Timothy Mc Almont were unbeaten on 10 and seven respectively when victory was achieved; DCC ended on 90-4 in 36.2 overs. Camani Boyce took 2-19.
