With the inaugural Forbes Burnham Memorial 10/10 tournament set to commence this weekend, President of the Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL INC) Ian John is calling on teams to register early to facilitate the
smooth running of the competition.
Teams from regions 2, 3 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 will vie for supremacy with the winners from each area qualifying for the playoffs which will be held on August 29; the finals will be contested on August 30 in Georgetown.
Entrance fee is $10,000 and the winning team will receive a trophy and $500,000, the runner up a trophy and $300,000, third place and fourth place a trophy and $100,000 each.
Teams are asked to provide balls (small supreme) for the preliminary games while transportation will be provided for out of town teams that qualify for the playoffs.
John told Kaieteur Sport that each Region must provide a winner by August 23 to facilitate the play off and finals on the aforementioned date.
The competition is being held in observance of the 30th death anniversary of the late president of Guyana Cde LFS Burnham.
