A Thursday night shooting has left a young man fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
According to police reports, the man, Desmond McPherson, 23, of Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, was found on the roadway in the vicinity of the Turning Point Bridge, with suspected bullet wounds to his chest sometime around 22:15hrs.
Yesterday, when Kaieteur News visited the area, persons were unable to say what had transpired. The Proprietrix of the Turning Point establishment told the reporter that the shooting did not occur in the vicinity of her business place.
Kaieteur News understands that McPherson and an unknown man were having some form of disagreement which led to him being shot. Sources have said that the shooting occurred in the “Big yard” on Arapaima Street which is located about a corner away from Turning Point. Investigations are ongoing.
