Headquarters captured the Guyana Police Force Inter-Division Track and Field title yesterday for an unprecedented 18th consecutive year, ensuring that the Championship spends another weekend in the lockups at its Eve Leary base.
Headquarters handcuffed the title they have held captive since 1997 after amassing 487 points on the final day of the competition. ‘A’ Division was second with 345 points while ‘C’ Division was third with 276 points and ‘B’ Division fourth with 148 points.
Guyana also arrested the ‘A’ Class or international title, finishing with 402 points ahead of Twin Island Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, with 102 points for second as St. Vincent and Grenadines finished third with 41 points.
Julio Sinclair and Keith Roberts shared the ‘A’ Class Champion Male award with 26 points each while Kevin Bayley was Runner-up with 20 points. Trinidad’s Nikita Thomas was the Champion Overseas Female with Sheldon Mason taking the male prize.

The sprint events certainly ignited the sparsely populated National Track and Field Centre venue at Leonora yesterday with Police sprint ace, Winston George, returning to put on a show after his training stint in the United States of America.
George blazed to 10.01 seconds in the 100m Male Invitational race ahead of Akeem Stewart, who ran 10.2 seconds and Tyrell Peters (10.9s). George returned in the 200m to win in the steamy 21.0 seconds ahead of Trinidad’s Che Hart (21.7s) and Roberts (22.5s) respectively.
