The village of Ann’s Grove was on Thursday presented with a set of boxing gear complements of the President of Guyana Amateur Boxing Association, Steve Ninvalle. The gear, comprising boxing gloves and head guards, was handed over to Kelvin Daly, who manages a recently formed boxing gym situated in the village.
National coach Wincell Thomas has been seconded from the National Sports Commission and works with the Gym five days per week. Since its formation last month, the gym has seen membership increase to 25, including several females.
While handing over the equipment, Ninvalle urged Daly to work closely with parents in the area. The GABA president also expressed hope that Ann’s Grove is represented at next week’s National Novice competition.
