The Zorg Commemoration Committee continues with its preparation for their Clive Gobin Memorial competition which is expected to commence on August 9 on the Essequibo Coast.
Chairman of the Zorg CC Raul Ruplall said that tournament will be played on a round robin basis comprising U15 teams from North, South and Central Essequibo as well as a female open team from Region Two at Zorg ground and will be of 25 overs duration.
He stated that the aim of the committee is to make the competition an annual event. “Business entrepreneurs around the area are very pleased with the work the committee has been doing and hence we have received numerous support for which we are thankful,” he said.
The final will be played on August 30 at the said venue where the committee will also be hosting a village day.
Meanwhile, Dereck Gobin Agri Spares has thrown their support behind the competition. The entity yesterday presented a cheque of an undisclosed amount to Ruplall who thanked them for their input. He is calling on other business entities to do likewise so both the cricket competition and village day can be successful.
