Winston ‘Little Master’ Stoby is just getting better with age, the Master M2 competitor smashed his old Deadlift National record with a lift of 280kgs (617.3lbs) to win his category and the Overall Best Lifter accolade at the Fitness Express / Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) Intermediate and Masters championships yesterday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The Kingsrow Barbell Club member competing in the 83kg weight class achieved the feat on his third and final attempt yesterday to cap a fine day’s performance. Stoby achieved a Best Squat of 275.5kg, Bench Press 142.5kg, Deadlift 280kg for a total of 680kg and Wilkes Points of 484.568. The old National Deadlift record stood at 611kg.
Also in Overall winning form was Intermediate Male winner, Steve Ramnarine of Hardcore Gym of Berbice who won the Open 120kg class. He had a total of 742.5kg; Squat 257.5kg, Bench Press 182.5kg, Deadlift 272.5kg and Wilkes Points of 427.532.
Ruling the roost on the distaff side was Shellon Nicholas of Rip Hit Strength & Conditioning
Gym who campaigned in the 63kg Open Division, achieved a best Squat of 115kg, Bench Press 57.5, Deadlift 117.5 for a total of 290kg and Wilkes Points of 317.231.
Fifteen year-old Britney Mack of Life Gym won the female Sub-Junior 52kg category with a Total of 215kg (Squat 60kg, Bench Press 47.5kg, Deadlift 107.5kg); Wilkes Points was 281.714.
Tia Telford (Fitness Paradise Gym) won the Female Open 84kg category with a Total of 305kg (Squat 95kg, Bench Press 65kg, Deadlift 145), Wilkes Points 296.887.
The other category winners were Neezam Deepan in the Men’s junior 53kg category with a Total of 217.5kg (Squat 72.5kg, Bench Press 47.5kg, Deadlift 97.5kg), Wilkes Points 256.237.
Daniel Sooklall (Fitness Revolution Gym) Men’s junior 59kg category with a Best Squat of 152.5kg; Bench Press 100kg; Deadlift 172.5; Total 425kg; Wilkes Points 390.320.
Dwayne Welch (Rip Hit Strength & Conditioning Gym) in the Men’s Open 59kg division – Squat 112.5kg; Bench Press 70kg; Deadlift 157.5; Total 340kg; Wilkes Points 322.728.
Johnny Seecharran (Fitness Revolution) Men’s junior 66kg – Squat 152.5; Bench Press 100kg; Deadlift 170kg; Total 422.5kg; Wilkes Points 333.817.
Ryan De Santos of Fitness Revolution took the 74kg category (Squat 160kg; Bench Press 112.5kg; Deadlift 185kg; Total 457.5kg; Wilkes Points 331.642); Deonarine Dutt won the 83kg Master M1 category (Squat 247.5kg; bench Press 127.5kg; Deadlift 215kg; Total 590kg; Wilkes Points 409.755).
Erwyn Smith (Kingsrow Barbel Club) Men’s Open 93kg division – Squat 247.5kg; Bench Press 137.5kg; deadlift 255kg; Total 640kg; Wilkes Points 412.160.
Martin Webster (Rip Hit Strength & Conditioning Gym) Master M1 93kg division – Squat 187.5kg; Bench Press 137.5kg; Deadlift 227.5; Total 552.5; Wilkes Points 359.291.
Errol ‘Powder for Power’ Henry (Kingsrow Barbel Club) Master M2 93kg class – Squat 240kg; 132.5kg; 250kg; Total 622.5kg; Wilkes Points 404.812.
Frank Tucker (Kingsrow Barbel Club) Master M3 93kg division – Squat 200kg; Bench Press 80kg; deadlift 192.5kg; Total 472.5kg; Wilkes Points 290.590.
Colin ‘Mr. Clean’ Chesney (Upper Demerara Barbel Club) Master M1 120kg category – Squat 320kg; Bench Press 227.5kg; Deadlift 282.5kg; Total 830kg; Wilkes Points 478.910.
All the top category performers as well as the three overall winners were presented with trophies compliments of sponsors, Fitness Express.
