Guyana and Barbados recorded victories when the Regional U15 50-over tournament continued yesterday with two matches.
At the Guyana National Stadium, the home team defeated the Leeward Islands by seven wickets. Batting first, Leewards never recovered from a poor start and were sent packing for 90 in 40 overs. Paul Miller top scored with 20 off 71 balls, while Elroy Francis Jr made 15 and Zawandi Whyte 10. Alphius Bookie was the pick of the bowlers with 3-8 while Qumar Torrington captured 2-21 and Kelvin Umroa 2-23.
Guyana replied with 94-3 in 25.2 overs. Sachin Singh struck 38 off 57 balls with three fours and one six, while opener Robin Williams cracked 19 (2×4), Kevlon Anderson 15 not out and Junior Sinclair 10.
At Albion, Barbados overcame Jamaica by seven wickets. Jamaica batted first and were bowled out for 82 in 32.5 overs. Kirk McKenzie 17 and Geordae Seymour 16 were the only batsmen that managed double figures; Ajani Ince, Rikeem Headley and Shemar Persaud grabbed three wickets apiece.
Barbados responded with 83-3 in 44.5 overs. Nico Reifer scored 25, Azan Holligan 20 and Mekhail Marshall 16.
At Enmore, no play was possible between Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands after overnight rain left the outfield waterlogged.
