Fifty-eight-year-old Nokhal Harallall, of Lot 96 Logwood, East Coast Demerara, succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Saturday at 11:00 hrs, two days after he was hit by a motorcycle on the Enmore Public Road.
Kaieteur News understands that around 3:30hrs, the man was standing alongside the Enmore Public Road, waiting to cross when the motorcycle struck him. Some minutes later a police van was passing and saw Harallall lying on the road. The patrol took him to the GPHC due to the serious nature of his injuries.
One eyewitness told this publication that Harallall was waiting to cross the road when the motorcyclist swerved from a car and hit him. Harallall reportedly suffered a fractured skull, dislocated shoulder, internal bleeding among other injuries.
Kaieteur News understands from the dead man’s sister that Harallall was heading to a friend when the accident occurred. The woman said that she was not at home but received a phone call from a family member who informed her of the accident.
The woman said although her family is poor, she will ensure that the motorcyclist faces the consequences.
After receiving the news, the woman said that she and other relatives rushed to the hospital where she saw her brother in a bloodied condition.
The family member added that since the incident, members of the motorcyclist’s family have not come forward to offer them any compensation, neither sympathy. A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed.
