Fifty-eight-year-old, Nokhal Harallall, of Lot 96 Log Wood, East Coast Demerara is now a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after he was hit by a motorcycle Thursday afternoon.
The badly injured man was left lying on the parapet in an unconscious state, after the rider of the motorcycle opted to ride away instead of rushing Harallall to receive medical attention.
An eyewitness told this newspaper that around 3:30hrs, the man was standing alongside the Enmore Public Road, waiting to cross the road, when the motorcycle struck him from the side.
Some minutes later a police van was passing and saw Harallall lying on the road, and took him to the GPHC due to the serious nature of his injuries.
One eyewitness told this publication that Harallall was waiting to cross the road when the motorcyclist swerved from a car and hit him, “pitching he up in di sky, and when this man come down he head buss up and he legs them bruck up”.
Harallall reportedly suffered a fractured skull, dislocated shoulder, internal bleeding among other injuries.
Kaieteur News understands from his sister that Harallall was heading to a friend when the incident occurred. The woman said that she was not at home but received a phone call from a family member who informed her of the accident.
After receiving the news, the woman said that she and other relatives rushed to the hospital where she saw her brother in a bloodied condition. The family member added that since the incident, members of the motorcyclist’s family have not come forward to offer them any compensation.
While Harallall remains in an unconscious state, his relatives have commended the doctors for the quality of care he has been receiving.
Meanwhile, Tirone Liverpool the motorcyclist sustained injuries to the head and mouth. This publication understands that upon being discharged from the hospital, Liverpool went to the Cove and John Police Station to enquire about his motorcycle when he was placed in custody.
