Dear Editor,
Now it seems the home franchises of the CPL 2015 tournament have become entity managing the ticketing arrangements in each territory. Following a media release in 17 July 2015 Kaieteurnews by the Guyana Amazon Warriors Franchise (GAWF) regarding a new system called the ‘ticket exchange programme’, the CPL entity nor the ticketing agent, Kyazoonga, appears to be taking the lead on this issue. Is this legal?
What is more importantly however is that quite contrary to CPL and Kyazoonga Terms and Conditions concerning its Ticket Refund Policy, the seemingly new ‘authority’ for ticketing, the GAWF, has instead chosen to only offer a ticket exchange programme for the washed out match last Wednesday 15 July 2015. This system offers exchanges only for today’s the 19 July 2015 game at 8pm and such exchanges can only be done at the Stadium’s’ box office, the latter disappears after next week’s Tuesday game.
This system is fraught with danger and is a charade. At midday of the 19 July 2015 one’s examination of Kyazoonga’s ticketing site suggest just over half the tickets have been sold. In theory if all ticket holders show up for their ticket exchange there would be a serious overbooking of the stadium, more so the Grass Mound where you could pretty much pack beyond safety limits even for animals. Where would you be putting the additional 7,500 persons?
What about those who persons, I am confident they number in the thousands, who attended the Wednesday game, and also already have tickets for Friday’s 17 July game? Why are you giving them more tickets to see the same game?
What is GAWF taking a decision for me to attend Friday’s game? The Wednesday was near sold out, suggesting people’s preference to see Jamaica square off with Guyana. Sale of Friday’s game is at about 50%, an indication of people’s interest.
Now I would be reasonable, but I find GAWF, CPL and Kyazoonga are short-sighted by not offering to widened they exchange programme to cover all of the games, with of course the possibility to later offer of the possibility of a refund, where people had no interest in seeing the other matches or were otherwise inconvenienced to attend. This gives people more options and a more reasonable expectation for future CPL editions. Alternatively, your reputation will be tarnished and you, CPL and Kyazoonga and GAWF will face legal action.
