Russian Ambassador to Guyana, Nikolay Smirnov, called on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Barton Scotland, yesterday in the Speaker’s Chamber of the Public Building, Brickdam.
During the visit, Dr. Scotland and Mr. Smirnov engaged in a hearty discussion which brought to the forefront, matters pertaining to the current affairs of both Russia and Guyana.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador was treated to a tour of the Parliament Chamber by the Speaker and the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs.
This year, Guyana and Russia will be celebrating 45 years of bilateral relations, during which Guyana has benefited in a number of areas from the fruitful partnership, including investments in the bauxite sector from Russian companies and scholarships from the Russian Government.
